About Giovanni Battista Chinelli

Giovanni Battista Chinelli (b Moletolo, 24 May 1610; d Parma, 15 June 1677). Italian composer. He was maestro di cappella at Novara Cathedral (1631-4), at Parma Cathedral (1634-7, 1652-60) and in Venice (1637-52). His output consists mainly of sacred music in concertato style, often with strings, including one complete set of music for Compline (1639). He also wrote a collection of madrigals (1637).
