About Georg Schramm
Georg Schramm (* March 11, 1949, in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe) is a German cabaret artist. Schramm was the only working-class child in his high school class. After graduation, he initially enlisted as a conscript in the Bundeswehr and excelled as the top graduate in the individual combat training. However, he failed the officer training due to "characterological unsuitability" at the Army Officer School. After his discharge from the Bundeswehr as a ensign, he was promoted to reserve lieutenant. He then studied psychology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and completed his studies with a diploma. From 1976 to 1988, he worked as a psychologist at the Schmieder Clinics in Gailingen and later in Allensbach on Lake Constance. He became a works council member and a union representative. During this time, he lived in Konstanz, where his two daughters were born, and where Ulrich Khuon, the director of the Konstanz Theater, encouraged him to work as a cabaret artist. Only "at the last moment" did he decide against a career as a full-time ÖTV union secretary. After having initial performances with the Noie Para-Theater in Konstanz from 1983 and touring as a solo cabaret artist with limited success from 1985, he took a two-year break in 1988. A TV appearance on Sender Freies Berlin led to further engagements in Northern Germany and paved the way for a full-time career as a cabaret artist. He retired in 2014 after 29 years on stage. Schramm is married for the second time, has three children, and lives in Badenweiler in the Markgräflerland region.
