About Georg Riedel
Two artists 1. Georg Riedel (born on 8 January 1934 Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia), is a Swedish double bass player and composer. Riedel migrated to Sweden at the age of four and went to school in Stockholm. He is of Jewish descent. The most famous recording featuring Riedel is probably Jan Johansson's Jazz på svenska, a minimalist-jazz compilation of folk songs recorded in 1962-1963, though Reidel has recorded with other leading Swedish musicians including trumpeter Jan Allan. Riedel's fame as a composer derives mainly from writing music for swedish childrens television, most of which based on Astrid Lindgren's books (Emil i Lönneberga, Alla vi barn i Bullerbyn, Karlsson på taket and, with Jan Johansson, PIppi Longstocking), but also other scandinavian staples such as Alfons Åberg. 2. Georg Riedel (1676-1738) was cantor in Könisberg for thirty years. He studied theology and philosophy before devoting himself to composition.
