About ガセネタ
Gaseneta (ガセネタ, disinformation or propaganda) was, along with Les Rallizes Dénudés, one of the first Japanese rock groups to establish their own unique sound that took a huge step away from just emulating Western acts. Their frightening speed, flesh-melting acid edge, and total chaos were the original blueprint for later j-rock artists and groups such as High Rise. The band members were all involved in various other related underground projects at the time that helped shape the Japanese psych scene. The band was founded in September 1977 by Yamazaki Harumi (later active in にタコ), Hamano Jun (later active in 不失者), and Ōsato Toshiharu (later active in にタコ, among others) after the three of them attended the Meiji University Contemporary Music Seminar led by Sonoda Satoshi (園田佐登志). Former drummers include Murata Tatsumi (村田龍美), Takano Tsutomu (高野勉), Inui Jun (乾純, later active in The Stalin), and Satō Takashi (佐藤隆史, owner of Kichijōji Minor and head of Pinacoteca Records). With an initial repertoire of just four songs ("雨上がりのバラード," "父ちゃんのポーが聞こえる," "宇宙人の春," and "社会復帰"), the band staged guerilla-like shows on university campuses, at school festivals, and at performance houses (including Kichijōji Minor). They disbanded on March 30 1979. During their first active period, the band did not release any albums; it was not until 1992, thirteen years after disbanding, the compilation album "SOONER OR LATER" (initially recorded in 1978) was released by PSF Records. The surviving members reunited in 2015 for the first time in 36 years in order to coincide with the 7th anniversary of Ōsato's death, with an initial plan to release another album; however, on October 23 2018 Yamazaki posted to Twitter, without consulting any of the other involved parties, to announce that the group had once again disbanded.
