About Gareth Wiecko
Born in Wales, Gareth fell in love with Melbourne while busking his way across Australia. Captivated by the classical music of Chopin, Debussy, Ravel and others, Gareth embraced the piano from childhood. After completing his ABRSM and a Bachelor of Music at Cardiff University, he left Wales to explore. Collaborating endlessly along the way he explored styles from reggae and blues to flamenco and indie, eventually settling in Melbourne to focus on his aspirations in music. Influenced by film and emerging media, he released his solo piano debut album Notes to Self in 2011 documenting his experiences and encounters as a traveler and musician. Having recently completed projects composing for film, Gareth is eager to direct his energies to interactive media and so has returned to university to study digital production to complement his knowledge of composition and performing. Gareth has an innate drive to create, but above all the warmth he receives from strangers when performing is what makes it worthwhile for him. Say hi.
