About Gain Factor
Gain Factor are pioneers in the genre of Tilecore, alternatively described as "absolutely terrible" and "somehow incredibly catchy". Formed in Hobart, Tasmania in mid-2012, the line-up consists of three main members: Haydon, Nathan and Damian. Guest vocalists often turn up for one/two tracks before disappearing again, and these three are the most consistent. Haydon is identifiable through his Nicki Minaj-style rap lyrics, Nathan through use of the Beatrice character, and Damian through his gravely shouts and misogynistic insults towards women. Gain Factor burst onto (and created) the Tilecore scene with their debut album Spasticated in 2012. Their second release, Casual Lemons, is widely accepted as their best work among the vanishingly-small fan base. 2014 saw their most recent album, Big Budget Blow-In, released with little fanfare. Tilecore devotees were treated to a pleasant surprise in June 2020, when superfan Mrs Juggernaut's badgering of Haydon on Twitter resulted in Slave/Thumbs Up (Sugar Beatrice Love) being released with no forewarning. It is currently unknown if this is a prelude to the fourth full-length release from Gain Factor, or simply a one-off release to placate noisy fans.
