GUITAR ORCHESTRA

About GUITAR ORCHESTRA

Available from http://www.angelair.co.uk/ Well damn this is one of the most soild and consistent forgotten curiosities I have ever come across. The musical talent on display here is genuinely impressive and after having already heard some of the abilities of Ray Fenwick on his equally obscure solo album "Keep America Beautiful, Get a Haircut", I am very happy to see further evidence of what a talent he is. I am not as familiar with Mick Grabham, but I'm aware he was in some well-regarded bands such as Bandit, Cochise and Plastic Penny. Timeless rock, frequently with an american southern / country feel, with brilliant production. There's a lot of instrumentals here, and they are easily a match for the tracks with vocals. The vocals are great too. One of my finds of the year, no doubt about it. From the Angel Air website: "This album is somewhat ahead of its time. Originally recorded in 1971 it lay on the shelf due to copyright problems with the Elgar piece. Almost forgotten, the album was resurrected after the necessary clearance had been obtained. Ray Fenwick teams up with Mick Grabham, the guitarist with Cochise and Procol Harum, aided by Dee Murray and Tony Newman. There are guest appearances by Nigel Olsson and Tim Renwick." Bass – Dee Murray Drums – Nigel Olsson (tracks: 2), Tony Newman Guitar – Tim Renwick (tracks: 7, 10, 11) Guitar, Producer, Mixed By – Mick Grabham, Ray Fenwick Lead Vocals – Nigel Olsson (tracks: 10) Vocals – John Gilbert
