About GAC - Vozes na Luta

The Grupo de Acção Cultural - Vozes na Luta (GAC) was a collective of politically committed singers and musicians, born from the revolutionary period in Portugal, after the 25th of April 1974. It was founded in May 1974 by José Mário Branco, Fausto, Afonso Dias and Tino Flores who met at a revolutionary songs session in Almada. It was at Fausto's house that, that same night, he decided to create the Cultural Action Group. In September 1974, Luís Pedro Faro and numerous singers from the Almada and Juventude Musical Portuguesa choirs joined the group. At this time, Fausto left the project and Tino Flores returned to Porto. In these brief months of 1974, dozens of singing sessions took place across the country. GAC, which ended in 1978, made history, musically influencing groups such as Brigada Victor Jara, etc.
