About Fun Club

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Fun Club was a swedish punk band in the early 90's. 2) Fun Club is a Spanish Eurodance project. This was created and produced by Oriol Crespo. In 1993 was released the single "Come Softly To Me". The tune was composed by Cristopher Matzen, Ellis Barbara, and Gari Troxel. The single also included the track titled "Clouds Across My Mind", that was composed by E. Deulofeu, M. De La Rosa and Oriol Crespo. It was recorded at Coco Studio, Barcelona (Spain). 3) Fun Club is a fun focused (not ford focus) energy driven machine that counts fun as a friend more than an a acquaintance and the boo hoos as an enemy with whom they would like to have some choice words. They are powered musically by Jonesy who supplies all music for this original 4 piece. Jonesy plays predominantly keyboards with samples and guitars and drums, and also makes sandwiches for practices. Fun Clubs vocals have a unique sound featuring 3 distinctly different vocalists who can sensitively sing like sweet angels, ferociously scream like baby tigers that have been awaken from late afternoon naps , and passionately rap like their lives depend on it. All together, Fun Club is part rap, part pop, part 1980s, part comedy, part tragedy and All Fun. Some of their song topics include menstruation and their first periods, being boyfriends of the year, dads being jerks, and drinking for free. Fun Club have been playing shows for ALMOST 3 YEARS now, and have been building a steady audience of weirdos and teenage girls all across the Chicagoland area, including the Congress Theater, Subterranean, Elbo Room, TheBeat Kitchen, and some other hot spots across the U.S. including Club Plaid, CBGB's, Avalon, and Trash Bar in New York. They also appeared on the underground dance show, Chic-a-go-go which has featured everyone from Beck to the Locust, to appearances from King Diamond and Gene Simmons. They hosted their own night entitled Fun Night every Tuesday at The Ashbary in suburban Willow Springs IL for as year and a half. Fun Night featured games, music, snacks, and of course fun, and played to packed houses on a previously brutally slow night for The Ashbary. Also dabbling in all things fun, Fun Club have hosted spelling bees, date auctions, bingo games, and many other fun activities. What is it about Fun Club that makes them stand out? Too many bands take themselves way too seriously, and when performing live dont even move, or talk with the crowd at all. The purpose of putting on a show is to put on a show. So says Fun Club. They feel in their hearts that this is what they are meant to do.
