Friedrich Schwindl (b Amsterdam 3 May 1737; d Karlsruhe, 7 Aug 1786). Composer and violinist. In the 1760s he served private patrons and in the 1770s Prince William V of Orange at The Hague. After spending time in Switzerland he became Konzertmeister at the Karlsruhe court (1780). He was also a soloist and a concert orgaaniser. Widely popular as a composer, he wrote over 30 symphonies (some he later revised and extended), much chamber music and several vocal works.
