About French Film Industry
French Film Industry is the name under which Doug Taylor (currently of The Soundtracks, formerly of Mariners, Quakes, Ages of Rosa, Home From Home, 4 Hour Drive and EverySixSeconds) records and performs solo material. From the MySpace (www.myspace.com/frenchfilmindustry): Sometime over the course of the next year, there will be a French Film Industry album and EP. My recent songs have taken on a couple of different forms. Some are coming out in more soundscaping, post-rock styles, and others in a more acoustic, country/folk form. Because of this, it seemed logical to record everything all at once and split it into two releases. These will be: Letters to My Albino Lover 1. Welcome to the Orgy, This Banquet of Butchery 2. Tonight These Ataris 3. Letters to My Albino Lover, pt.2 4. The Music of Ghosts 5. Falling For Falling Asteroids 6. She Speaks in Nosebleeds 7. The Algerian Burlesque 8. Disassemble the City 9. The Mourning Rain of Mare Street This is the more post-rock style release. When writing, I found that these songs came together really naturally. I expect they'll be expanded on while I record them also. They were written over the course of 2008 with various acoustic and electric guitars, ukuleles and keyboards. This is going to sound, big and beautiful, so I'm excited as to how it will come out. THIS IS NOT BRAZIL 1. This is Not Brazil 2. Baby, You Say the Sweetest Goodbyes 3. When You Were an Emergency This is the acoustic EP, which is likely to incorporate guitars and pianos, maybe other instruments dependent on what's available at the time. The reason for it being much shorter than the other release is nothing to do with lack of material; I have many more songs. The main reason is that I felt it should be a more comprehensive EP, and these three songs together tell a story that isn't told in any of my other acoustic songs, which are all individually themed. So yeah, that's the update, that's what's happening. Keep an eye out.
