About Fredrik Kronkvist
One of the hottest young saxophonists in Sweden whose work has already made a big impact on the European jazz scene. His strong, creative spirit combined with a profound knowledge of the instrument and jazz has made him one of Sweden's jazz international stars. He is leading his own band where he present a quartet, consisting of young musicians from the vanguard of Swedish and Danish jazz. The Swedish saxophone star, Fredrik Kronkvist steps out with a jazz setting in its rawest form. With just drums, bass and the alto saxophone, Fredrik's creativity flows freely and the communication between the young musicians are on the highest level. This record (recorded in just one day!) contains material with different rythmic foundations like contemporary hard swinging jazz, New Orleans funk, brazillian and Afro Cuban rythms. Half of the record are from Fredriks versitile pencil, and the other tunes are jazz standards or not-so-often-played tunes like "Gazzeloni" by Eric Dolphy and "Lotus Blossom" by Kenny Dorham.
