About Francesco Pollini

Francesco Pollini (Ljubljana, 1763 - Milan, 1846) was an Italian musician and composer. He studied in Vienna where he had Mozart among other masters. This one dedicated to him a rondo for violin. Back in Italy, he settled in Milan, where he enjoyed a certain fame and consideration in the music world of the beginning of the century. He began to teach composition at the Conservatory in Milan. His works include numerous pieces for piano. In 1789 he wrote "La casetta nei boschi" (The house in the woods) opera. Best known is his "Method for harpsichord". He enjoyed the friendship of Bellini who dedicated to him his opera La Sonnambula.
