Francesco Maria Benedetti (Assisi, 12 December 1683 - Assisi, 2 July 1749) was an Italian Franciscan and composer. Francesco Maria Benedetti, born in Assisi , was Chapel Master in Assisi, Turin and Aosta . Friar minor conventual from 1715 to 1722 he was chapel master in the church of San Francesco d'Assisi in Turin , from 1727 he returned to Assisi as chapel master of the Basilica of San Francesco in replacement of FM Zuccari. In the period 1722-1727 he was present in Aosta, always with the position of Chapel Master. On 22 December 1734 he was offered the post of chapel master of the Cathedral of Urbino, but the chapter of San Francesco di Assisi did not allow him to take the post and he had to give up. He spent the last part of his life in Assisi. He composed 270 works mainly of sacred music : Motets, Magnificat and Marian Antiphons, Psalms, Masses, Music for the choral office, Oratorios, Sonatas for 'capricciose organ', Sonatas for strings.
