About Floriano Maria Arresti

Floriano Maria Arresti (Bologna, December 15, 1667 - Bologna , 1717) was an Italian composer, harpsichordist and organist. He was born in Bologna on December 15, 1667. He studied music with his father Giulio Cesare Arresti , organist at San Petronio. On April 6, 1684, he joined the Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna. In 1689 he went to Rome where he studied with Bernardo Pasquini. In the same year he also became organist of the S. Lorenzo collegiate at S. Oreste at Monte Soratte , near Rome, maintaining this place until 1691. From 1703 until his death he was organist of St. Peter's Cathedral in Bologna. In 1715 he was elected Principal of the Philharmonic Academy. He composed works and speakers of which only the librets remain. Manuscripts keep some of his singing in a loud voice.
