About Felix Godefroid

Felix Dieudonne Godefroid (1818-1897) was a Belgium harpist, pianist and composer, also known for composing the opera, "La Harpe d'Or" and a number of ballets. He toured through Europe and the Middle East, famously playing for King Leopold. His harp compositions took full advantage of the instrument and are characterised by harmonics and glissandos. The International Felix Godefroid competion is held annually in his birth-place; Namur, Belgium, to celebrate his compositions.
