About Famous by Association
Dubbed by their fellow musos as “Famous By Association”, Mornington Peninsula’s four piece have spent their first three years of veracity refining their art on the live circuit, building up a solid live show that packs one mighty punch. Having already shared the stage with the likes of Kisschasy, After the Fall, Bodyjar, Horsell Common, Behind Crimson Eyes and Trial Kennedy to name a few, Famous By Association are best known for their always energetic and entertaining live shows. But even with all the classic rock moves and on-stage antics there is something that is even more impressive about these boys; and it’s their sincerity. Famous By Association combines the talents of four genuine musicians, who clearly get a pure kick out of playing together. They say enthusiasm is infectious and for Famous By Association that’s certainly proved true, as their dedicated following has continued to grow by the numbers since their inception in 2003. Winning the hearts of almost all who tastes their treats, it was just this that landed them their record deal with Melbourne independent record label Basin Records whilst recording at the Basin Studios in late 2005. While demoing tracks, Famous By Association instantly captured Basin’s attention and with that inked themselves an impressive deal not four weeks later. After spending the earlier months of 2006 at the Basin Studios, where they literally worked, lived, ate and slept for the entire process, FBA finally emerged with their self titled EP ‘Famous By Association’, mixed by producer Matt D’Arcy and Mastered at 301 by Steve Smart. Released on July 22nd the EP features the lead single ‘STEREO’ with it’s melodic guitar lines, rock riffs and catchy chorus’ care of lead singer Timothy Smyth and his ability to tame the mic effortlessly. Guaranteed to grab you by the scruff of the neck and penetrate your minds frequency to high rotation, STEREO speaks with FBA conviction.
