About Failed Assimilation

FAILED ASSIMILATION is a post-industrial rock band, which arose from the ashes of Brisbane's industrial scene in late 2015. Johnny Daeus (vocals), Luke “Siebz” Siebenhausen (bass guitar), Jethro “Jay” Hilliard (programming and keys) and Callum Dodds (lead guitar) had all come from various bands and projects that had ended or had fallen into extended hiatuses: DAIS, Dreadtrench, Domination Korporation, and SRB. The later, having the honour to open for Hanzel und Gretyl (USA) in 2012 at The Jubilee Hotel. This amalgamation evidentially harnessed the best of each member's respective experiences and talent to bring together a band that would forge its way to becoming a prominent Brisbane act. Failed Assimilation also, in its early days, caught the eye of local promoter, Richard Warman of the Faith Nightclub, who would pair them with Sydney and international heavyweights, such as SNVFF, Amelia Arsenic and 11grams. Counterbalancing visceral and bludgeoning aggression from a torrent of guitars, wild electronics and screams of urban frustration and nihilism, with haunting and sombre melodies that creep into your subconsciousness, Failed Assimilation is a versatile band. Whilst they manage to craft their own signature sound, the undercurrent of their output pays homage to a medley of 80's, 90's, as well as modern influences: cold wave, metal, EBM, dark electro, noise, post-punk, and other experimental genres. Failed Assimilation stands apart from traditional industrial music by not restricting themselves to the genre's boundaries.
