FUNNELBUDZ was a rap duo formed in 2014 by Brain C & Crime Yea. In November 2014, FUNNELBUDZ released their debut double mixtape, Before Christ / Anno Domini, on Bangkok Blend. The project was dedicated to comparing and contrasting the lightest parts of humanity to the darkest, with Before Christ becoming a way to catalog those thoughts, books and events into something intended to motivate and inspire, and Anno Domini becoming a way to channel those negative feelings into a box, and to hopefully put them away forever. The project was created entirely in-house, with the duo writing, producing, engineering, mixing and mastering all of the material themselves. There was no budget, no outside promotion, no hype-machine, no blog or label interest. Nevertheless, reactions were largely positive— despite the uncompromising nature of the production, and its obfuscatory lyrical content.
