About Faith No More

Faith No More was an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979. Before September 1983, the band performed under the names Sharp Young Men and later Faith No Man. Bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Roddy Bottum, and drummer Mike Bordin were the longest-tenured members of the band, having been involved since its inception. The band underwent several lineup changes over the years. The final lineup consisted of Gould, Bordin, Bottum, lead guitarist Jon Hudson, and vocalist and lyricist Mike Patton. After releasing six studio albums, including the commercially successful "The Real Thing" in 1989 and "Angel Dust" in 1992, Faith No More officially announced its breakup on April 20, 1998. The band later reunited and conducted "The Second Coming Tour" between 2009 and 2010, followed by the release of its seventh studio album, "Sol Invictus," in May 2015. After this period of activity, the band went on hiatus. In November 2019, Faith No More announced plans to reunite for a 2020 UK and European tour, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Touring was later rescheduled for 2021 and 2022 but was ultimately cancelled, with Patton citing mental health reasons. As of that time, the band has not announced plans to resume activity. Despite brief success and positive critical acclaim, the band achieved limited commercial success, selling only 9.5 million albums worldwide. In the U.S., sales were even lower, with an estimated total of 2.1 million. Studio albums We Care a Lot (1985) Introduce Yourself (1987) The Real Thing (1989) Angel Dust (1992) King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime (1995) Album of the Year (1997) Sol Invictus (2015)
