About Eyes Catch Fire
Rising from the ashes of many past acts, EyesCatchFire hails from the Lincoln/Omaha area. A fist in your face blend of poppy/screamo vocals and catchy lyrics, finishes the fight with melodic/driving guitar riffs that could hook JAWS. You will either fall in love with or be blown away by a live performance that looks you in the eye and screams PASSION and HEART with every song. Guitar spins, 40” verticals, hands in the air, bloody fingers and eyes don’t even begin to scratch the surface of the energy produced by this 5 piece freefall of the heart. EyesCatchFire is a crowd pleaser, and has no other motives than to make you feel what they’re all about…the love of music and friendships. Ashes to ashes and bass players to guitar players Mark posted an add “in need of singer” on Omaha’s local S.L.A.M. (Support Local Art and Music) message board. Still playing bass in one of Omaha’s favorite rock bands ILLICIT, his phone was off the hook with the calling to play the guitar. A few replies and some homemade songs later, Jet emailed back with a reply for singer. Already taken part in a garage band with future ECF bassist Phillip he was currently singing in a prog/rock band THE ANGEL PROGRESS and wasn’t happy with the energy and role of just standing and singing. A quick phone call and a solo guitar, no drums or much else practice landed him an offer to sing for a band with no bass player or second guitarist, but there was something there more than a feeling. Phillip who came to the try-out also wanted to be back into music and after he and Jets garage band fell apart he continued to write for the guitar…and a 5’6 Slash was reborn. The drummer M.I.A. at the initial try-outs had yet to surface. Geoff Marshall once drummer for MANDOWN, The VAGRANTS, and MOTLEY CRUE was still playing for local band SHIVER when working on this project. A few practices later he was ready for the full commitment. Geoff, “yeh uh I really like it uh…(cough) I’m down.” And so ECF was built without a bass player but alive nonetheless. Mark, “we tried, and tried to find someone who wanted a part in this, but we weren’t a big name and hadn’t played any shows”, “a lack of bass players in the area made it near impossible to finish the band.” After finding a bass player they got their first show at a local venue only to have him bail a week before the event. Jet knew one time band member and very tall Joal from the one-show wonder THREE YEARS WAITING group that didn’t make it past recording. Joey said he would definitely help ECF out of a jam by learning the bass tabs and playing the first Warped Tour or more with them. Joal once ruled the Tri-City area with bands like POPULATION 800+, STELLAR, and NICKELBACK. A short stint with a metal band from Kearney, Third Eye Blind ‘til I die fan Joal said “ok” to helping a friend out of a jam. It seemed for a while that he may be the bass player wanted, but “Joey’s” skills with the maracas were quickly understood. He and Phillip switch-a-rooed the guitar and bass and finally, finally ECF found its footing. Jumping head first into Omaha’s Music Scene was easily established with the area veterans of the band. Word spread like dat der wildfire about the band that was as nuts as they were good. Phillip developed a small tumor on his right ball and shows and practices altogether had to be stopped for a whole day. Other than that this SuperDuperDoubleLooperBand from the Heart of Nebraska continues to rock your grills off today with an upcoming tour of the MidWest and some further East to West Coast barrages.
