About Ewy

Ewy (they/them) is a queer punk musician from rural North Yorkshire now based in Leeds. They are a self proclaimed 'minecraft pvp pro' and are 'very passionate that snufkin and moomin are gay lovers'. Ewy started writing music because they were 'deep in [their] Nirvana phase n wanted to be like Kurt Cobain'. They started by sending song demos to their friends through unlisted youtube links. They state that they make music about capitalism death and love focusing on queer and political themes. With music similar to, PUP, Jeff Rosenstock, SOFT PLAY, Modern Baseball, The Front Bottoms, The Oozes and Blue Foster, Ewy has made the transition from the folk punk genre to a more heavy sound, stating that they were "Dropping the folk in folk punk" in a message to their discord. 'A joke that you're not in on' was said to be the transition album, mixing sole punk aspects into their standard folk / midwestern emo style of their previous releases. Their most recent EP is the first look at their new punk / alternative rock sound and has been a hit with fans. In 2024, Ewy has amassed nearly 100k monthly Spotify listeners and their top song "half broken japanese" has over 3 million streams . Their most recent EP "SCREAM LIKE A DOG" was released on the 6th of September.
