About Eugenijus Ostapenko
Eugenijus Ostapenko (1976-2021) (better known for his scene name Dolbanas) was a Lithuanian pop singer, songwriter, and producer. He started his carrier in a musical duo called "Guminė Birka", together with Radži Aleksdadrovič. The duo split up after various conflicts and a scandal between Eugenijus and Radži's mother. He was known as a controversial figure in Lithuania, frequently compared to artists such as Kanye West or Niki Minaj. He quickly became popular because of his controversial views on people of color and sexual minorities. He was often praised by his fans, for phrases such as "Ching chong, ching chong, go back to your country." and "I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility.". He skyrocketed to fame during his prosecution for storing and distributing child pornography in the mid-2016's. During this time he has released a number of songs, such as "Prisiminkime Henriką Daktarą", which received a widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. His songs were praised for deep lyricism, and are described as dark and monolithic. His influence can be seen on many Lithuanian artists. "He has changed the game. There was no one like him, and there won't be any for decades to come.", according to Lithuanian music critic Vycka Bagdonavičius. Eugenijus has been fighting his prescription drug abuse since 2004. His pain was often reflected in his music, such as "Dviratukas", where he sings about his drug-abusing mother and nonexistent relationship with his father, who abused high amounts of crack and died when he was 14. He often looked back, to the days of childhood when he was "sharing a couch with roaches" and "On gangsta Crip, my poppa was a bitch / Left me where hope just don't exist". He compared his childhood with current times, where he describes his daily life as "monotonic, lonely and depressing.". On April 14th, 2021, Eugenijus Ostapenko suddenly died, possibly due to heart failure.
