About Eskimos & Egypt

Eskimos and Egypt was a mid-1990s mellow groove band based out of Manchester, England. The band's members were Paul Cundall on keyboards and synthesizer, David Cameron-Pryde, Mark Compton and Christopher O'Hare on keyboards and vocals. They first recorded a single in 1987 called "The Cold", which was released on Village Records. They then released a series of singles that were well-received in dance clubs in the UK, especially "The Power of G'N'R'" and their breakthrough UK-USA. The band's debut album Perfect Disease was released on One Little Indian Records in 1993. Their follow up The Rest Is Silence was never released and it wasn't until 1997 when they released Kamikaze (only in Germany however). Kamikaze was a commercial flop and the band split up soon afterwards, but not before recording a 4th album entitled Geek which never saw the light of day. In 1997 they released a remix version of "Rammstein" by the band Rammstein. The song is an instrumental on Rammstien's Engel(Fan Edition) single. This song brought Eskimos and Egypt out into mainstream music for a short time. Since the split of Eskimos and Egypt, David Cameron-Pryde and Mark Compton, together with engineer Mark Stagg have produced albums for various bands including Sonique, Tatu and Erasure. They also wrote the music for the global smash-hit The Spirit of the Hawk by Rednex. They write and produce under the name FAF Productions.
