About Eric Lyon
Eric Lyon is a composer and developer of computer music software, with specialties in spectral processing and algorithmic sound design. Lyon has composed a large number of works for various instrumental combinations, computer-generated music, hybrid works combining pre-recorded or live computer music with instrumental performance, and music for dance and film. Lyon has taught computer music at Keio University, The International Academy of Media Arts and Science (IAMAS), Dartmouth College and The University of Manchester. He currently works at the Sonic Arts Research Centre of Queen's University Belfast. Lyon has collaborated musically with artists such as Erik Belgum, Zbigniew Karkowski and the dance company Freefall Ltd. He is co-author with Christopher Penrose of the Max/MSP spectral processing collection FFTease, and author of LyonPotpourri, a varied set of processors for Max/MSP including sample-accurate timers for developing tight drum machines. Lyon also created and released POWERpv, a large set of spectral processors for Unix, in the early 1990s.
