About Emir Aksoy & Hayri Gökşin Özkoray
Emir Aksoy is a prominent and promising musician of the Istanbul underground scene. A multi-instrumentalist and quite popular as a folk singer amongst the academic audience of the Bosphorus University, Aksoy cites J. R. R. Tolkien as a profound influence and source of inspiration for his writing and composing. Hayri G. Özkoray (founder of Le Sevi and HGO) is an amateur harmonica player and also a historian and a frustrated jazzman from Paris. The two members of the avant-garde and experimental duo, both born in 1988 and living in different cities, usually don't have the chance to play together. Although, they managed to arrange and release their first recording without having any physical contact. In other words, these self trained musicians formed a remotely practising band on the virtual platform. One can define their pioneering work "Khazad-Dûm" (named after a Middle Earth city and originally based on balrog), as harmonically ambitious, while profoundly and fairly generous regarding the share of space and time.
