About Emily Hsieh

Pianist Emily Hsieh, born in Ohio, U.S.A. of Taiwanese parents, began formal music training at the age of 6. Her honors have included First Prize in the International Tchaikovsky Competion for Young Musicians in Moscow in 1992, in addition to numerous outstanding awards from the Juilliard Pre-College Division. Ms. Hsieh has been the piano soloist with many orchestras since age 9 and has given recitals in Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Russia, Taiwan and around the U.S. She has appeared in many radio and televisio stations, including the WQXR radio program "Young Artists Showcase" in New York. Currently studying with Martin Canin of the Juilliard School and Larry Graham of the University of Colorado, Emily takes her academic classes at the professional Children's School in New York. Before giving a recital in the Presidential Hall in Taipei in 1993, Ms. Hsieh received a special award from the Chi Mei Culture Foundation in Tainan, Taiwan, and made a recording for Chi Mei.
