About Emanuele Maniscalco

Born in 1983 in Brescia (Italy), Maniscalco took up music and photography at a very young age. His career as a professional musician takes off in 2001, still a teenager, by hanging out and playing in the best local jazz scene. His talent and commitment would soon catch the attention of the most acclaimed Italian jazzmen: Enrico Rava, Stefano Battaglia, Pietro Tonolo, Stefano Bollani, Ares Tavolazzi, Gianluca Petrella, Emanuele Cisi, Francesco Bearzatti, Sandro Gibellini and many more. Largely self-taught, he graduated as a ‘Solist’ at the Rhythmic Conservatory of Copenhagen in 2014. A sensitive improviser and composer, Maniscalco performs regularly in big and small venues around the world, both on piano and drums. He also collaborates with actors/actressess, dancers and visual artists. He appeared in over forty studio albums. His photographic work extends from commissioned music portraiture to personal research within urban landscape, people and nature.
