About EmGi
EmGi is a German battle rapper who gained recognition through participation in online rap tournaments such as the Reimliga Battle Arena (RBA), Video Battle Tournament (VBT), and JuliensBlogBattle (JBB). Career Like many German rappers, EmGi began his career in the RBA, where he registered in 2006. Between 2006 and 2011, he competed in ten battles, winning eight, losing one, and aborting one. He accumulated 548 points, placing him 115th in the Advanced League. In 2011, EmGi first took part in the VBT. He was eliminated in the second preliminary round after losing to tournament favorite Duzoe, which limited his early public recognition. His breakthrough came with his participation in the first season of the JuliensBlogBattle. After successfully qualifying, he defeated LaChrizz in the first round and advanced to the semifinals, where he was scheduled to face Kico. Following Kico’s withdrawal, EmGi faced replacement opponent T-Jey and delivered a dominant performance. However, due to production time constraints affecting his opponent, the battle was deemed unbalanced. A public vote was held to determine the finalist alongside Der Asiate, which EmGi narrowly lost to 4Tune. As compensation, he received a wildcard for a future JBB season, which he initially did not use. In 2013, EmGi participated in the Splash! Edition of the VBT but was eliminated in the round of 16 by Pimf. After a period of relative inactivity, he returned for VBT 2015, where he advanced through the preliminary rounds but showed lower production quality compared to previous appearances. He reached the round of 32, where he was eliminated by Mizu. EmGi later redeemed his wildcard for the JuliensBlogBattle 2015, entering directly into the round of 16. He defeated Maddust but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Neo. He also lost a bonus battle against Timatic. In 2017, EmGi participated in the Battle League Battle (BLB) as part of the group “Hinter'm Handschuhfach links,” alongside MEF, Blektro, Labbe, and MarkSign. The group won their Saarland division and advanced to the knockout stages, reaching the quarterfinals, where they narrowly lost 13:10 to Tomaten Mark and Anaporia. Comeback In 2025, EmGi returned with the JBB Exclusive track “JBB Abschied.” Shortly afterward, a retro final against Der Asiate was released, representing a hypothetical final of the original 2012 JBB. According to organizer Julien, the battle was not officially judged, leaving the outcome open to audience interpretation.
