About Elizabeth Batey
Elizabeth Batey was born in 1917. She was a recording star with the Joe Loss Orchestra during the Big Band era in the 1940s. Her biggest hit was Nature Boy, in 1946. She was married to clarinet player and band leader Harry Bence and had a son Freddy. She retired at the age of 52, and was widowed in 1997. She now lives with her son and his wife in Southport, Lancashire.
