About Dr. Doomsday & His Nuclear Wisemen

When three green glowing nuclear contaminated individuums in summer 2004 decided to form a minimalistic 80's-synthie-retro-post-punk-band, some people thought this is going to be a joke (and some still think so). But anyway, these musical dilettantes went out to buy used synthesizers and equipment from early 80's to get an original retro sound. Inspired by the early post-punk, new wave and new romantic scene and of course the underground Neue Deutsche Welle, they started to experiment with a mixture of guitars and synthies. After a visit in a Stanley Kubrick exhibition in the film museum in Frankfurt/Main the band decided to name themselves after an alternate title of the cold war satire "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb". Therefore our drum machine was named "Dr. Doomsday" and the three musicians Adam der Somnambule (voc, git, synth), Sid Vampyre (bass, programming) and ????```???==??=== (synth, git, voc) the "Nuclear Wisemen". After nearly 2 years and 5 live gigs in which the band was celebrated and cursed at the same time - for example by being stoned with tangerines (oh yes, our personal 'tangerine dream') - the synthiefreak ????```???==??=== decided to leave the band. He considered the music as being to bad even for so called "Minimal". Maybe he's right, but who cares? After a break of half a year Dr. Doomsday & His Nuclear Wisemen resurrected with a new band member in fall 2006. NitscheNatsche is now the queen of guitars and female voices. For spring 2007 the Wisemen and -woman are planning the release of a first official demo CD recorded with a 4-track-cassette-recorder in their rehearsal room. Watch out for synthie-punk madness! words by SidVampyre (http://www.drdoomsday.de)
