About Down in the Park
Down in the Park, a unique melodi-core band, was formed in Lafayette, Louisiana in the summer of 1999 by 4 aspiring musicians who began jamming in a dusty spare room set aside Jason Bienvenue's parents house. Very quickly Cullen, Jason, Patrick and Bradley discovered they had more than just your average garage band. Forging together the stylings of many of todays popular emo and alternative groups, they began to form their own substance that can be compared to no other. After performing at numerous local clubs they caught the eye of Jeremy Williams, former manager of TRUSTcompany who was instrumental in the signing to Geffen Records. Jeremy formed a partnership with Brian Trumps, long time fan and twin brother of Patrick (guitars) to co-manage in order to build a strong and viable team to surround the band. Something however was missing.. so DITP recruited Coplin LeBleu to head up back up guitar duties. The addition of Coplin has only added fuel to the already growing flame. His added flare to the texture of sound completes the color to this dynamic painting. Under the leadership of Jeremy & Brian, Down in the Park has performed with the likes of: TRUSTcompany, Alien Ant Farm, The Toadies, LIT, 6 gig, Default as well as several other renound National Acts. In the spring of 2002 Down in the Park recorded a 4 song demo with Jeff Blando, guitarist for Slaughter/Psaigon Kick. The band has already caught the attention of several major labels and are in preparation of recording their next demo which already has plans to land in the offices of several record label executives. Their final line up was: Cullen Bernard (vocals), Skip Angelle (bass), Jason Bienvenue (drums), Coplin LeBleu (guitar), Patrick Trumps (guitar)
