Born on January 5, 1969, Douglas Johnson is the director of the short film, "The Instructor", produced in conjunction with the Mass Media department at California State University San Marcos near San Diego, California. Focusing on the evolution of his friend, Jay Trussel from inpetuous youth to kenpo karate student and family man, the film premiered on October 21, 2008 to rave reviews. "The Instructor" will be screened during the Spring 2009 CSUSM Film Festival in May. Doug has recently completed work as cinematographer on Christian Motos' short, "Chapter 24" starring Christopher Thar and Merideth Wheeldon. Doug cites the following artists as influences: Martin Scorsese, Werner Herzog, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott, David Fincher and Michael Curtiz. He is currently finishing a script entitled "Chest Pains" for the horror comic book anthology "Bone Grinders", published by Entropy Comics. Previously, he was the writer of Entropy's "Dark Legion" mini series and a film critic viewable at Blogspot.com.
