About Dhendy

Dhendy Mawardi was born in Bogor on 5 May 1981. Starting his career on music since he was in junior high school as a guitarist and had experienced playing 50 songs in one show! At that time also, he made a song that he didn't realize that the song is more likely a song from an indie band called Pure Saturday. He didn't even know there's a band called Pure Saturday. By that silly coincidence, he decided to really focus on making his own songs. To strengthen his music talent, Dhendy took a private blues guitar course and classic guitar while he was in high school and college, although it was only happened for a couple months. Back in the college, he took art philosophy for one semester in faculty of Language and Art, his major was France. Not only from the courses and formal school, but he also learn a lot by searching for his reference from books, videos, tutorial CDs and internet. After his high school and college band, “Hitam Putih” split up, he tried to stay his existence in music by working as the Head of Audio in Iguana SMS-Provider Content Cellular, but then he quitted from the job so that he could finish his thesis. In 2006, he was the additional player (as a guitarist and backing vocal) for a singer and a songwriter, Sarah Silaban in some of her show. He learned a lot and also witnessed the process of creating wonderful songs of her. He also took an opportunity to fill the loop and sample for Sarah's next album, which unfortunately hasn't been released yet. On December 2006, Dhendy made a demo version, “This Be Over” that can be found on bonus CD “Traxound” (Indie Music Compilation) released by Trax magazine, January 2007. His single was played many times in Trax fm radio and Hardrock FM Jakarta in January 2007. Soon, some offered him to play on an event, such as; Death Rock Star gathering in Splash, Kemang, featured artist on the launch of “Working Class Zero”, Planet Bumi's new album in Pasar Festival Kuningan and also some of showcase in Soho, Plaza Semanggi. In February 2007, Dhendy has officially joined the Elanvital Records. That was a new beginning of a cooperation to release a mini album, “This be Over” which will be released in January 2008. The mini album will be released in a limited edition concept. This mini album is refreshment to a full album that have been planned to be released by the end of 2008. For making of his mini album and full album, Dhendy is working with M.G Windu Saskara as a producer; he is a friend of Dhendy and also the guitarist of “Hitam Putih”. Dhendy also has a role as a co – producer. They hope that this synergy collaboration can give an optimal result despite of the minimum budget and equipment. In the process of making the materials, Dhendy has been also having a chance to work together with some of Indie artists. Such as: in the latest of Santamonica album, he was helping them by giving his voice over in French for their song called ‘Wanderlust'. He also gave his voice in the song “Kembali Kepada-Mu” in the album Cahaya Cinta – Mu by Estetika, a religious music group. Creating a song has become pretty easy for Dhendy, just grabs a guitar, plays some chords and starts to sing. The creative process will never stop, because for Dhendy, music is a dope.
