Denzel Rae Don Curry (born February 16, 1995) is an American rapper from the Carol City neighborhood of Miami Gardens, Florida. He began rapping while in sixth grade and became associated with the local underground hip-hop scene in the early 2010s. Curry first gained attention after his mixtape "King Remembered Underground Tape 1991-1995" was shared by rapper SpaceGhostPurrp, leading to his membership in the hip-hop collective Raider Klan. Curry was born and raised in Miami Gardens, Florida. During elementary school, he developed an interest in poetry before turning to rap music in sixth grade. He participated in rap battles at a local Boys & Girls Clubs of America chapter. Curry attended Design and Architecture High School in Miami before transferring to Miami Carol City Senior High School. While attending school, he began work on his debut studio album, "Nostalgic 64". In a 2018 interview, Curry stated that he had experienced sexual abuse during childhood. In 2011, Curry released the mixtape "King Remembered Underground Tape 1991-1995". The project drew attention after being shared online by SpaceGhostPurrp, and Curry subsequently joined Raider Klan. In 2012, he released the mixtape "King of the Mischievous South Vol. 1 Underground Tape 1996", which attracted attention from members of the hip-hop collective Odd Future, including Earl Sweatshirt. Later that year, Curry released "Strictly for My R.V.I.D.X.R.Z.", a mixtape influenced by the music of Tupac Shakur and released following the death of Trayvon Martin, who attended the same high school as Curry. Following the disbandment of Raider Klan, Curry focused on a solo career and released his debut studio album, "Nostalgic 64", on September 3, 2013. The album included guest appearances from artists such as JK the Reaper, Lil Ugly Mane, Mike G, Nell, Robb Bank$, Stephen A. Clark, and Yung Simmie. He appeared on the soundtrack for the video game "Madden NFL 21" and collaborated on "Dynasties and Dystopia" for the Netflix animated series "Arcane". His song "Let It All Hang Out" was included in the soundtrack for the film "Elvis". In 2022, he performed an NPR "Tiny Desk Concert" and later released the live project "Live At Electric Lady" in 2023. In 2024, Curry released "King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2", a sequel to his 2012 mixtape. The album included the singles "Hot One" and "Black Flag Freestyle". Later that year, an expanded version of the project titled "King of the Mischievous South" was released with additional tracks. Curry also appeared on JPEGMAFIA's album "I Lay Down My Life For You" on the track "JPEGULTRA!". In January 2026, Curry announced the formation of a hip-hop group called the Scythe alongside ASAP Ferg, TiaCorine, Bktherula, and Key Nyata. The group was formed as an homage to southern hip-hop acts. Its debut album, "Strictly 4 the Scythe", was scheduled for release in March 2026 and included guest appearances from artists including Juicy J, Smino, and Rich the Kid. Curry's music has been noted for its aggressive delivery, energetic performances, and stylistic versatility. He has also been associated with the development of the SoundCloud rap scene. In April 2026, Curry became the first rap artist to have his music broadcast from space during the Artemis II mission.
