Densmore
About Densmore
Densmore thinks of his productions as unfinished inventories of fragments: recorded objects, samples, synthesizers and other inventions. They are improvisational sites in which the constructed and the ready-made are used to question our listening of the world through music and abstraction. Densmore’s arrangements are schematic, inviting the listener to move into a space of speculation. His topics include adding as much abstraction as the structure can take. Densmore relies on our desires for darkness, poetics and seduction. He has found the histories of surrealism and minimalism to be useful in the rearranging of received ideas and samples. The sounds he makes are placed in the canon of house, in hopes of making visible what is overlooked in the historicizing of the artist. Densmore’s projects have always been grounded in lush hidden pleasures and aesthetics.
