Dekker & Johan

About Dekker & Johan

With a Radio 1 'Essential New Tune' and Pete Tong's proclamation as "two names to look out for in 2009", they are receiving massive across the board club, press, blog and radio support for their killer remix of "See the Light" by The Hours - released on Damian Hirst's label. Canadian DJ/producer Johan Wadsten met London based DJ Dekker after moving to the UK from Toronto. They soon realised that they both wanted to make the same kind of music: technically accomplished, musical and genre-defying, yet totally destructive over a club system. They have been in the studio solidly ever since. Each of their remixes and original tracks to date have been unique, but a pattern of consistent quality is emerging, which has led to a queue of the hottest acts and labels clamouring for their remix services. Currently guarding a slew of new tracks, remixes and edits, Dekker & Johan bring the same attention to detail and dancefloor savvy to their club sets as they do to their productions. Each with huge DJ experience, they know how to smash up a club with their individual DJ sets, but put them together and add effects units, synths and extra CDJs and you have something really special. Dekker Charlie Anderson aka Dekker has been a fixture on the London underground club circuit since moving from the westcountry ten years ago, playing regularly since then at FabricLive and more recently at Bugged Out! (The End) and Always Fridays (The Egg). He also holds a long-running DJ residency at Sankeys in Manchester and has played sets all over the UK and Europe. You may also have caught him at festivals this year including Glastonbury, Bestival, Field Day and the London Freeze. Dekker runs his Apocalypso club night - now approaching its 2nd birthday - at the Old Queen's Head in Islington. Apocalypso has seen Jesse Rose, James Lavelle, Duke Dumont, Punks Jump Up, Paul Epworth and Autokratz play in the last 3 months alone and is gaining a reputation as one of the best nights at which to see massive DJs and cutting edge newcomers go head to head in a unique setting. Finally, Dekker is one half of MissOddKidd & Dekker, the Live MC/DJ show which has been touring clubs and festivals as far afield as Moscow, Paris and Berlin for the last 2 years. Johan Johan Wadsten may be a less familiar name to European promoters, having built his reputation originally in his hometown of Toronto. Having caught the electronic music bug at its very beginning, he became a stalwart of the North American rave explosion in the 90's, playing to huge crowds in Canada and the US alongside legends like DJ Sneak, Robbie Rivera, Hatiras, Felix da Housecat, DJ Dan and DJ Heather. During this time he promoted nights and held residencies at venues like NASA and the Bauhaus as well as producing and releasing music through various Canadian labels. Johan eventually moved to the UK to take up a coveted place on the Audio Engineering programme at LIPA, before moving to London, where he DJ'd at Canvas, 333, Turnmills, Egg and other parties, and eventually ran into Dekker. With a DJ style that takes all his rave experience and brings it musically bang up to date, Johan is set to do damage in 2009.
