About De Slijpers
De Slijpers were a popular Dutch folk-style duo from Helmond in the Netherlands. Formed in 1980 it consisted of Leo Kuijpers (1931 - 2003) and Sjaak van de Laar. Leo Kuijpers also released work under his artistic names of Dikke Leo (mainly during his early career) and as Leo van Helmond (mainly during his later career). His first duo recordings were made as the “Frans & Leo” duo during the 1960s. De Slijpers songs which made the charts are "Wij Zijn De Slijpers Van Parijs" and "Puntje D'r In Puntje D'r Uit". As of 2013, three albums were issued by Telstar, "Slippertjes Van De Slijpers" (1980), "Nieuwe Slippertjes Van De Slijpers" (1982) and "Leo van Helmond & De Slijpers" (2008 CD).
