About David Vitela
Known for his lo-fi folk sound, David Vitela is a Mexican indie singer and songwriter, whose career started off after his Demo release of “Leslie”, originally released in early 2017 when living in Austria, and later released his debut album “Only Fools are Satisfied” in early 2019 under RATIO Records. Born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, David grew up listening to a mix of 60’s and 70’s pop music, and first became interested in singing at age nine. By his teens he already listened to classic rock artists like Queen, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, but in high school discovered indie rock, and became influenced by artists such as The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Cage the Elephant, Vampire Weekend and San Cisco. By age 15 he started singing in bands with his friends, and learnt how to play the drums and bass. In late 2016, after recently turning 20 years old and living in Austria, he taught himself to play guitar and recorded his Demo version of “Leslie” in his dorm room (inspired in a long-distance complicated relationship he had at the time) and later uploaded it online in early 2017. After releasing “Leslie (Demo)”, he ended up signing with RATIO Records, and after recording his debut album “Only Fools are Satisfied” in late 2018, he released it in early 2019.
