About David & The Dorks

In 1971, with the help of several guest musicians, David Crosby created a solo album called 'If I Could Only Remember My Name'. It included Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, members of the Grateful Dead and others. Prior to the release of this album, Crosby played several shows with Grateful Dead members Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, and Mickey Hart. Introducing themselves as David & the Dorks, the group played three shows at the Matrix in San Francisco in December 1970, as well as a set at Pepperland in San Rafael later in the month. At one point during the later show, Garcia introduced the group as David & the Ding-a-Lings, and Crosby, in response, called them Jerry & the Jets. The spontaneous and short-lived group's lineup consisted of: David Crosby - guitar, vocals Jerry Garcia - guitar, vocals Phil Lesh - bass, vocals Mickey Hart - drums
