About Dave Beck
I'm an Iowan born and raised currently living in Brooklyn, NY. During my college years I took a year off to go to guitar school in hollywood. I lived with a Norweigan named Jardar. Musician's institute was more like the school of rock meets high school than a college... but it was quite amazing none the less. What they failed to mention in the brochure though,was that doing something for 10 hours a day, might not be that healthy. Enter a stress injury piled on an old shoulder injury from high school, and you've got a guitar school drop out. I moved back to Iowa city, did shoulder rehab, went to the university of Iowa. worked at an Irish pub,started writing songs again, created my own major and peaced out of the midwest. My first song was for a class project in high school about parenting called growth and development. I realized at that point that I could start writing songs instead of doing projects. This became a reoccurring theme. My first band was cam's dream, my last was degrees of freedom. Real good times Now i'm in New York, where the biggest city can be so small sometimes and ultra connected. I hang out with the crew at bar 4 on Tuesdays and try to pay my bills by barbacking elsewhere. Right now it's me and my guitar ( a brand new martin ...mad props to tyler unger) I've met some great musicians and people and look forward to playing more shows and meeting more.
