About Darryl Wezy
Irfandy Farwezy Hamzah or better known by his stage name Darryl Wezy, is an Indonesian singer-songwriter and musician who released his debut album Maze of Fears under the independent labels Ivy League Music and Rooftop Sound in 8 October 2012. Maze of Fears has the radio hits such as "Automatic High" and "The War Is Over Now". This album consists of 11 songs and tells about how to fight against the fears in relationships, family, friendships, cultural issues, and how to gain self empowerment and motivation for ourselves. From the maze philosophy, Wezy tries to analogize the human mindset to a maze (of life) that could be formed as well as they thought. In his debut album, Darryl has worked together with Aghi Narottama (Joni's Promise, KALA, The Forbidden Door, ONROP! Musical) and string section assisted by Alvin Witarsa. In his live performances, Darryl Wezy performing with a full band. The line-up consisted of Ganesha Pratama (Guitar), Hayu Probo (Bass), and Popo Mangun (Drum). He stated his music has been influenced mostly by The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Mamas and The Papas, Aphrodite's Child, The Free Design, Pulp, Ash, The Cardigans, Weezer, Melanie C, The Concretes, The Lightning Seeds, The High Llamas, Sondre Lerche, Sufjan Stevens, Sore (band) and White Shoes & The Couples Company. He found his obsession with manga and anime soundtracks from One Piece, Crayon Shinchan, Chibi Maruko-chan, and also J-Pop acts such as Ikimono-gakari, Shugo Tokumaru, Perfume (Japanese band), Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Shonen Knife, and even AKB48.
