Daniel Viglietti (Montevideo, Uruguay, 24 July 1939 – died 30 October 2017) was a Uruguayan folk singer, guitarist, composer, and political activist. He was one of the main exponents of Uruguayan popular song and also of the Nueva Canción of the 1960s and early 1970s. Mario Benedetti (14 September 1920 - 17 May 2009) was a famous Uruguayan novelist, poet, and journalist.
