About Cynthia McCorkindale
Classically trained, but with a sensibility that is distinctly jazz, Cynthia McCorkindale has earned a place alongside the world's most tasteful and talented singers, most recently as an interpreter of The Great French Songbook. Indulging her lifelong fascination with foreign culture, Cynthia spent years travelling abroad, cultivating a love for France and mastering its language. Her latest CD, Bistro Blue, reflects her passion for French music and lyrics. Cynthia's first CD, "meant to be blue," features a late-night New York jazz vibe, with an extraordinary rhythm section comprising Andy Ezrin on piano, David Finck on bass, and Tony Reedus on drums. Both CDs have been well-received, however, Bistro Blue is enjoying widespread airplay and was recently selected as on of the featured CDs on National Public Radio's "All Songs Considered." It continues to receive critical acclaim and enthusiastic reviews. Cynthia is a versatile singer who performs all genres of music, however her main passions are French music and jazz. She began her professional career at the age of 14, playing guitar and singing cover songs and originals in local coffeehouses. Later, she attended the Boston Conservatory of Music, and began traveling and singing in Europe. Back in the States she focused primarily on jazz, sharing the stage with such luminaries as Dave Brubeck, who when asked to describe Cynthia's latest CD exclaimed, "Bistro Blue? C'est si bon!"
