About Cutnmove
Cut 'N' Move were a Danish dance and hip hop group from Århus. The group was founded in 1989 by keyboard player Per Holm, disc jockey Jørn K (Jørn Kristensen), and rapper MC Zipp (Jens Kjær Larsen). Singer Thera Hoeymans joined in December 1990. Their debut single "Take No Crap", featuring vocals by Danish singer Christine Christiansen, was released in 1990 and issued internationally in 1991 as "Get Serious". The song became a moderate hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 10 on the dance chart. Their debut album "Get Serious" was released on Epic Records in 1991 and found success in European dance clubs, selling 53,000 copies in Denmark and about 200,000 copies worldwide. In 1992 the group won three Danish Grammy Awards: Danish Newcomer of the Year, Danish Hit of the Year for "Get Serious", and Danish Rap/Dance Album of the Year for "Get Serious". For their second album "Peace, Love & Harmony" (1993), Danish-American singer Zindy Laursen joined the group. On this album Laursen sang lead vocals on four tracks while Thera Hoeymans sang lead on two. Their cover of the KC & the Sunshine Band song "Give It Up" reached number one in Australia for four weeks in 1994 and peaked at number 61 in the UK Singles Chart. In March 1994 Hoeymans left the group to pursue a career in theatre. In 1995 Cut 'N' Move released their third and final studio album "The Sound of Now". The lead single "I'm Alive" became a minor hit, reaching number 46 on the US Hot Dance Club Play chart and number 49 in the UK. A greatest hits compilation, "Into the Zone '91-'96", followed in 1996 and included three new songs. The album won Danish Dance Album of the Year at the Danish Grammy Awards. Cut 'N' Move disbanded in 1997. In 2009 the Danish newspaper Politiken described the group as a forerunner to the 1990s Danish pop phenomenon Aqua and called them a milestone in Danish music, noting their role in bringing dance music to a wider audience in Denmark.
