About Cure the Corrupt

Cure The Corrupt started out as a nameless band of 2 people, Nick and Evan. Nick on guitar, and Evan on drums, and Evan didn't even own a drum set, never played drums before in his life. Well, in August, he got an electronic Roland TD-3 kit, and then the two began playing simple covers such as Linkin Park and Seether among others. That continued until about October when Camilo Vera was asked to join the band. He did, created the name, and wrote the basis of the Adolescent Anthem, Cure The Corrupts first real song. It was also at this time where Nick made the switch from guitar, to bass, when he bought a Fender Jazz bass, and sold his Squier Strat. Still, with all of the instrumental positions filled, something was missing. Enter Fabian Castrillon, the rhythm guitarist of Cure The Corrupt. Fabian brought a solid sound to CTC, and created a more punk/classic feel to Adolescent Anthem. Camilo, Nick, Evan, and Fabian then were asked to play at a church for the youth lesson they were having. The show was great, and thanks to Camilos sister, Becky, CTC had a vocalist. Unfortunately, this would be Camilos first, but last show with CTC. On May 24th, Evan got an acoustic Pearl Prestige Session Select drum set. This was also the date that Evan invited Michael Fluker, aka Fluker, to the band. Nobody knew how Fluker would create something new for the sound of CTC, but he did. he wrote a killer solo for Adolescent Anthem, and he has written many of his own original songs. Sometime later, Nick would get his 5-string bass. Eventually, Camilo left the band and CTC lost its foundation, but Evan, Nick, Fabian, and Fluker kept on going. They eventually wrote the Triplet Song, probably the most heavy song in Cure The Corrupts set list. Fluker then got a Dean Z, and Evan upgraded his drum set to a massive, 8-piece double bass kit. Cure The Corrupt was sounding amazing at this point, especially because of how their equipment sounded and all of the practice they had. Shortly after Christmas, Evan got in touch with a promotions company, PNR, who gave Cure The Corrupt the opportunity to play a show on April 4th. In February, CTC was featured in The Torch, the school newspaper of University High, and this put out CTC's name out in the school. On April 4th, Cure The Corrupt played their first stage show at Central Station under PNR. the show was their first true stage presence, and they really impressed the audience, as well as PNR and the other bands playing there. Cure The Corrupt is currently writing more music and are playing in shows presented by PNR. Cure The Corrupt's writing style is greatly influenced by bands such as Rise Against and Sum 41 as well as heavier bands such as Between the Buried and Children of Bodom which develops their unique punk rock sound trimmed with heavy drums, beefy riffs, chunky harmonies, and razor sharp solos.
