About Clausthome
Clausthome is another way of the Latvian band Claustrum . Clausthome is a two-person project initiated at the turn of the century as a musical interpretation within noise/industrial subculture. It all began with exploration of sound synthesis and radio waves as a medium, with space research as a model of world exploration and with real data from radio telescope and universe research data servers. In the course of time, with the direction starting to loom ahead, thought, experience and aspiration goals to be achieved, the project focused on self-made sounds and modified video recording devices, transmitters, receivers and synthesizers to reproduce the details of the journey in a more detailed and personal way, sharing the precious moments of revelation, and fantasy. Stylistically, Clausthome can be classified as a project mainly working with radio noise/electromagnetic ambient and drum & noise sounds. Clausthome has performed in various of international and local festivals, events, concerts ("net.congestion", Amsterdam 2000, "Art+Communication" Rīga 2001 and 2004, etc.). They have contributed sound tracks for international co-projects like DVD "RT-32: Acoustic Space Lab" DVD, CD "Radioastronomy" CD, and others, and released CDs: "Radiophare [ Lampe D'Ambiance ]" (2005), "Radiophare [ Les Ondes Radio ]" (2010), etc. On a regular basis they develop noise art and industrial music programs for net.radio OZONE (1999-2007). Their most recent project - in collaboration with RIXC and Radioqualia - was a live streaming performance using the Irbene Radiotelescope - "Solar Radio Station" (Dortmund, 2006). Collaboration with video artist and graphic designer Mārtiņš Ratniks : "Spectrosphere", "RT-32:Solar Radio Station"(2003-2006), "Projections" (2011), "Untitled Radio" (2011), "Unknown Planet"(2012-2014), "Oscillon Abstractions and Electricity Graphics" (2014-) http://www.claustrum.org/clausthome
