About Citizen Lusca

April 18th 1983 born in Brooklyn NY currently resides in Seoul, Korea N Ellis has been in several bands on the east coast, his most recent being Commissariat from NY. His style is centered around being visual with music and using looping to create chaotic soundscapes or conversation like compositions. Unlike his other projects which were jam packed with the idea of being "huge" this is almost the exact opposite. He focuses on saying less but meaning more. Using nothing other than a couple of guitars and effects and a looper he creates almost an entire orchestra. Mr. Ellis has been influences greatly by 80's punk music and post-hardcore bands of the 90's who strove to be anything but the same. Perhaps you cant here the influences of Fugazi and Operation Ivy directly, but that mindset has correlations with more modern post-rock bands such as MONO, Eluvium, Grails, Red Sparowes or even Brooklyn's own Gregor Samsa. Clearly a more comfortable home. Unlike other loop artists he is not centered around electronic music or standard glitch or uber repetitive rock styled music, his mission is to sketch, add ink, fill in, and leave you with an image, a scene, a situation, a tone. A refreshing change from the bubble gum music culture norms we all are forced to cope with.
