About Cilmeri

Cilmeri was a Welsh folk band that was present at the beginning of the folk surge in Wales at the end of the 1970s. Formed by college friends Tudur Huws Jones (banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, whistle), Huw Roberts (fiddle, harp) and Ywain Myfyr (bodhran, harmonica, bouzouki), the three were influenced by the folk music traditions of Ireland and questioned why the musical traditions of Wales were being ignored. Elwyn Rolands (guitar), Robin Llwyd ab Owain and Gwenan Griffith all joined.
