Cigarette Nation is five-piece bandidos from the city of heroes, Surabaya, Indonesia, a band with nothing to lose, but also nothing to win. It's another brilliant theatrical compositions comes from the guy who brought us Apples In Wonderland. Cigarette Nation is the dark side of their alter-ego band: Apples in Wonderland. The concept of this band is rejected music which is unacceptable, as was Apples in Wonderland. Cigarette Nation's music is eclectic with indie-rock genre and psychedelic nuances. Some say that Cigarette Nation's lyrics are of dark and social themes. It's arguable and 'citation needed', but one thing for sure is they are inspired by the frenzied life of their multicultural society in their psychedelic home country: Indonesia. The name Cigarette Nation itself is a question to the life of music in Indonesia which is very dependent to the industry of tobacco. It is very funny that with this ironic name, they were able to get away with an award and cash as they were announced the winner of the biggest indie band festival held by an Indonesian cigarette company, against some 3,000 bands coming from all over Indonesia. With this fact, you can surely imagine how weird and vulnerable the lives of musicians in Indonesia are.
